This post is not going to tell you anything that you didn’t know because you can hardly find anyone that does not know the bad effects of smoking. This post is going to be a reminder. It’s going to remind you of all the benefits of quitting smoking and living without it. So let me start reminding you once again.

Smoking Kills You

We all know that there are many related smoking diseases, so smoking kills you…. OK I know you heard that before and you even see it in almost all packs, didn’t you. You know that smoking kills you and you still smoke ignoring that fact. Why do you do that? Oh, let me guess, you have time. You know that all smoking related diseases take time, years, to develop and you probably been saying to yourself, ‘I have time and besides a bad things also happens to those that don’t smoke.’ Yes, you are right, bad things also happen to those that don’t smoke. But, you are wrong a lot more than you are right. Why? Because knowing that more than 5 million people die each year around the globe from smoking then you should not play with your health. In other words you should not increase your odds of contracting lung cancer or have a stroke or heart attack.

OK, let me now remind you of benefits that you will receive if you start living a life without smoke.

Health Benefits of Quitting Smoking

1. Your blood pressure and pulse will return to normal or be better just after 20 minutes, wow.

2. 12 hours without smoke and carbon monoxide in your blood stream drops to normal, aha.

3. 24 hours later your body will have eliminated all carbon monoxide from your body, and your lungs, those life supporting lungs that you’ve been destroying, start to clear out mucous and smoking debris.

4. 48 hours later and your body is free of nicotine and your ability taste and smell, which so far was lost, will start to return and improve.

5. 72 hours later and you will notice that breathing is easier. Your energy levels will greatly increase and your bronchial tubes will begin to relax.

You want more? Just keep reading….

6. Your circulation improves and your lung’s function increases greatly after two to twelve weeks.

7. Coughing and other breathing problems such as wheezing start to go away while your lung function increases up to 10 percent after 3 to 9 months.

My father quit smoking 9 months ago and I can tell you he is no longer coughing like he used to.

8. 12 months later and your risk of heart disease is reduced by half and keeps reducing… it does not stop there.

9. Five years later and you will have half the chances of heart attack to that of the smoker and the risk of stroke returns to the level nonsmokers.

10. Ten years later and the risk of contracting lung cancer have dropper greatly. Almost to the level of, again, nonsmokers.

11. Finally, 15 years latter your risk of lung cancer have fallen to the level of those that never smoked. Risk of developing a coronary disease falls to the level of nonsmokers. And, if you hopefully quit before you turned 50 you have reduced by half the chances of dying compared to those that still smoke.

These are the reasons why you should quit smoking and these are the benefits if you quit. There are probably other benefits that are not in the list but you should not wait until the list is big enough for you to decide. Decide now and never look back.

Hope to see you around and call you the man who quit smoking. Pass it on, will you.
